A Walk in the Snow
Less than 24 hours between yesterday’s shots and today’s. How the weather can change!
EcoKid is very fond of the snow. I’d say that next to jumping in muddy puddles, frolicking in the snow is her favourite activity. So when she saw from our living room window the snow falling this morning, I knew what we’d have to do.
But first, EcoDad had to do a grocery run and EcoBabe needed his nap, so I couldn’t get her outside quite as quickly as she might have liked. But EcoKid does have the powers of patience (not often, it’s true, but when she knows, really, really knows, that waiting nicely will result in a big pay-off she really is the Patience Super Hero.) So, she sat at the window and waited.
I did chores and she helped a bit here and there. She scrubbed at her potty half-heartedly while craning her neck to ensure the tumbling snow didn’t leave her field of vision. She mopped with enthusiasm when I said I thought I saw Daddy arriving; her fondness for the task waned when it turned out that it was not her father. She sat at her bedroom watching both the snow and for her Daddy to appear in his taxi and signal the start of her snowy adventure. Eventually he arrived and despite hours of waiting EcoKid was as full of energy and excitement as she might have been if we’d been able to leap into our snow clothes at the first sight of a flake this morning.
Once outside, well… the photos tell the tale: (you can click on the photos to get bigger images)
(Please avert your eyes from the tea cosy she’s wearing on her head. It’s a knitting project gone wrong that she, of course, adores, so I get to see my failure paraded before me with a degree of regularity. Motherhood. Who knew?)

LOL! I love her tea cosy.
My favorite photo is the one of her just looking up at the falling snow. Her expression is wonderful. We went out in the falling snow yesterday and had so much fun. I’m with Ecokid…playing in the snow is worth waiting for.

Nice shots! We’re having some great weather here, except it’s so warm and sunny that everything is melting (good!) and causing vast ice patches (BAD). We can’t actually get outside, even though it’s so nice out, in case I fall down with the baby and drag Daniel with me. (WAAAA!) So I’m glad to see your pictures.

Hey, I think the hat is adorable! And it fits! What beautiful pictures.
I just wanted to respond to the comment you made about my mittens last week that totally cracked me up. But first you have to picture me sitting like Gollum crouched over the mittens saying, “My preciousss!” You should definitely make a pair — they were made with bulky-ish yarn and were super quick. You should do it!
