Forget Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Snow White… they ain’t got nothin’ on EcoKid’s princess style:
Having had endlessly sick kiddos for the past… (how long has it been??? a month? two?) … while, I’ve not had a lot of time for crafting. Most of my time has been spent tending my sickies, cleaning, and tidying. It never ceases to amaze me how tired, sick children still have boundless energy and invariably channel it to the purpose of mess-making. I mean really, EcoKid did NOT get the memo that with mono she should want to lie about on the couch. No, instead she has torn about the flat leaving trails of destruction in her wake. Ah well… at least she wasn’t incapacitated by it. What more, she seems now to be recovering. Her lymph nodes remain somewhat swollen which makes me nervous but the glint in her eye seems to be returning. Phew.
Anyway, this post is meant to be about crafts, methinks you’ve all heard my ruminations on illness enough to last a lifetime… or at least until my next post 
So, without further ado… my productions of the past month…
EcoKid, putting on her brave face.
I’ve been on a cleaning spree this morning. Not your typical Christmas activity (CERTAINLY not my usual occupation on Christmas morning,) but we’re holding off on our celebrations til my mom arrives on Saturday. So, today I’ve cleaned two bathrooms, scrubbed the floors, vacuumed, washed windows, washed dishes, cleaned the stove, tidied bedrooms, dusted, dusted, dusted, and dealt with laundry. It might be atypical behaviour (in EVERY sense), but it’s made me feel accomplished and pleased with the state of our home. More or less.
And what more, I’ve chosen the grand winner of the ChristmasFuture Contest!!!

My friend’s daughter, Rebecca, and her class at school recently learned how to knit for the express purpose of sending warm headgear to newborn babies in need. How wonderful is that? A whole class full of fourth grade kids learning a new (valuable! rockin’! way cool!) skill so that they can help tiny people they’ve never met.
Knit One, Save One is an initiative of Save the Children, an American charity that seeks to make real, lasting change in the lives of children in the United States and abroad. The hats produced by this program will sit on tiny heads, helping to keep them warm, thereby dramatically increasing their chances of survival.
